Assessment 3 Post

During this semester of university I have created many different accounts for a range of different websites with different purposes.

For my Blogger, I created a blog dedicated to anime or Japanese animation. I have learnt to keep a consistent posting procedure and have created the posts to appeal to a larger range of anime fans or people interested in becoming a fan themseves. As part of my blogger I created an RSS feed to www.madman.com, which is the Australian company that distributes anime in Australia.

For my Flickr I have posted pictures and videos of my progress in my animation course. I have a large assortment of walk cycle drawings from my first assignment and now have some fish as well as a video of one of my scenes for my second assignment.

For my delicious I have made many links all in personal stacks. First of all I have a stack for my MPI104 content, a stack for my anime and manga named personal stack, a stack for my social networking sites and everyday use sites and a stack for entertainment which includes sites that vary from news to music.\

Overall I have learnt the importance of your web presence on the internet and that the way you portray yourself could have a positive or negative outcome in several different areas such as looking for a job or making friends.

Here are the links to each of my pages and the masterblog-

Fruits Basket

Well I feel as though I haven't done enough for the girls, so in my opinion, Fruits Basket is the best shojo series out there, with Clannad close behind. This is a comedy series and even though it swayed away from the original manga source the anime is actually quite good. Tohru Honda is adopted into a household of 3 cousins after her Mother died in a car accident. Little did she know that there were 13 in the family all scattered around and they so happened to be the animals of the zodiac. When any of these people are hugged from the opposite sex, weak or under stress they would transform into their zodiac animal. This series is very funny and most female and some male animae fans will definetly enjoy it.

Akira

For many people Akira is the main reason they are interested in Anime in the first place, this goes for the Japanese people as well as Western. The manga was originally serialised in 1982 and fastly became one of the most influencial manga series of all time. The anime movie is based around a rebelious motor bike gang in a post apocalyptic Neo Tokyo. After a crash caused by their rival gang they see a small child with a body of an elderly man, who turns out to be psychic. One of the biker boys gets effected and the story goes in to many wonderous areas, but this is an anime that can't really be summarised. Though in saying that I definitely recommend watching this one and it is rated R, so no children allowed.

Black Cat

Black Cat revolves around an ex-assassin named Train Hartnet also known as black cat. Black cat travels around with two other people reinventing himself as a sweeper or otherwise known as a bounty hunter. One of the companions named Eve is a small child and the reason they are being chased, she is the worlds most dangerous weapon and the story expands more on her as you go. Black Cat is a very well done shonen series and anyone with the interest in shonen will love this one with a good balance of action and comedy. Here is a trailer, it says official but it feels fan made, well either way you're getting it.

Assessment 2: HTML Website

For Assessment 2 I have made my HTML website basic but effective, even though it looks as though there wouldn't be much coding, there was a lot of experimentation. The parts I am most proud of is the the banner that was made for my title. I went through many different variations trying to make it work and in the end it was the most time consuming part of code. With each alteration of code I would refresh the page to see if it would work and if there was a problem and I couldn't figure out why, I would  use the <.!-- --.> to eliminate lines of code so I could pin point the problem. I've learnt many things working in HTML, as I've only ever worked in vb and c++ before I've had to use different methods to figure out problems. I've also learnt of the importance that the css brought to the code. In vb in particular you would have different forms (pages) but you don't work with an external alteration device, therefore could get a little messy and at times hard to read. Overall I'm most proud of my banner and the general look of my HTML website, trying to break away from the typical and original style that HTML brings to web-design.

Gantz

Gantz is a science fiction anime that I haven't seen yet, although I have been reading the manga and the original concept of the story and engaging visuals have made me very eager to get my hands on this title. The anime itself has two seasons of 13 episodes each and there have been two live action movies made in Japan. The two main characters Kei Kurono and Masaru Kato are hit by train in the attempt to save a elderly drunk from being killed. After death they find themselves waking up in an apartment room with a bunch of strangers and they are unable to leave. In the middle of the room is a black sphere called the gantz sphere, the gantz sphere opens up and it is revealed that their natural life has ended and they have been employed to work as assassins killing aliens that reside on Earth. I can't really recomend this series from personal thoughts, but I've heard positive reviews and now I pass the reviews on to you. Also I'd just like to note that this is the first anime on here that has an R+ rating, just incase you weren't looking for something so mature. Here is the opening song for Gantz.

Haibane Renmei

Haibane Renmei is a 13 episode anime series based off the doujinshi by Yoshitoshi ABe. This is a very deep and symbolic anime any anime fan would love, although it lingers over to the female target audience, although males will still enjoy this one. The story begins with a girl falling from the sky and a crow falling with her in attempt to save her life. The scene cuts and we watch a group of women find a massive cacoon that will hatch the main character "Rakka". The characters in the story resemble what the western world would say an angel looks like, although they are not angels, they are Haibane. Haibane Renmei deals with many problems of today for example discrimination, disease and death.

Tenkū no Shiro Rapyuta (Laputa: Castle in the Sky)

Tenkū no Shiro Rapyuta (Laputa: Castle in the Sky) by Hayao Miyazaki (Spirited Away, Ponyo) is a personal favourite of mine, even though growing up with anime, this particular movie is responsible for bringing back my (healthy) obssession with anime. The story revolves around a boy and a girl named Pazu and Sheeta, after Sheeta is chased by sky pirates and falls off a blimp, Sheeta floats towards the ground with the stone around her neck illuminating. Pazu catches the floating girl and reveals a life long dream to find the floating city of Laputa, soon after Sheeta and Pazu are chased out of the town by the sky pirates with the military soon after, all searching for the stone around her neck. They both go on a epic adventure, escaping from enemies, searching for Laputa and revealing wonderous secrets. I could really go on, but anyone who has seen a Miyazaki film knows you could write a summary of his movies in a short novel. This movie is defintely worth the watch being Miyazaki's second feature length film airing in 1986. Here is a fan made trailer.

Mirai Nikki

Hey guys,
This next anime is a fairly new anime that started airing in Japan in October 2011 and has a season of 25 episodes. Mirai Nikki (Future Diary) bases it's story around a socially awkward boy named Yukiteru Amano. Yuki spends his whole time documenting everything that is going on around him in his mobile phone, his personal diary. As a coping mechanism he created a fake god and a small girl as his only friends, until it becomes apparent that these beings are not imaginary and they want to play a sick and twisted game. The winner of this game becomes the new god of Earth, there are 12 contestants that all have a compulsive documenting system, for example there is a detective that documents all the crimes in the city down also in his mobile (though not all the diaries are mobiles). All these contestants must kill each other without knowing who each other are and there main advantage is that their "dairy" now shows what they would have written but in the future. When the words 'dead end' appear that means they are going to die, making different choices than what there dairy predicts changes the future and then the posts change. This anime has a very original concept and has many smart plot lines. Here is a fan made trailer and the opening.
